Preliminary statistics of World Intellectual Property Organization shows that the China’s PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) international application has increased by 19% in the first half of this year while the number in US declined by 14% as a result of economic crisis. A new report recently published by WIPO shows that, the world PCT international application in 2008 totals to 163.6 thousands, growing by 2.3% compared to 2007, wherein the PCT application number of Chinese enterprises and organizations is 6089, growing by 11.9% compared to 2007, and ranking sixth after USA (53521), Japan (28774), Germany (18427), Korea (7908) and France (6867).
